Stampede case in karnataka

INTRODUCTION

Today, the Karnataka High Court made the decision to investigate the horrific stampede outside Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium, which left eleven people dead and over forty-seven injured.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) cricket team had won the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the first time in eighteen years, and the fans had come to celebrate.

This post will go into great detail about this problem. It will also investigate the cause of this stampede.

THE ISSUE IN THE COURT

A bench consisting of Justice CM Joshi and Acting Chief Justice V Kameswar Rao heard the case this morning.

Speaking on behalf of the Karnataka State Government, Advocate General Shashi Kiran Shetty gave the court the assurance that the government is actively addressing the issue.

“We are doing everything we can. A report will be submitted. I’ll get directions. I’ll just list the facts of what happened and what we did. There is no confrontational strategy; we are merely providing assistance. We are just as enthusiastic as any State resident. “Let them forward any suggestions,” he informed the Court. In response, the High Court stated that it will consider the issue in greater detail.

THE REPORTS OF STAMPEDE

The stampede happened outside the stadium on Wednesday, one day after RCB won their maiden IPL title, according to several news reports.

The players were anticipated to come at the stadium for a victory event, and a sizable crowd had assembled to cheer and see them.

At first, the event was being held with tickets that included entry fees. A last-minute announcement permitting free admittance, however, is claimed to have caused unexpected mayhem. Tragic deaths and injuries resulted from the situation going out of control when a large number of fans raced to the gates to enter freely.

A magisterial inquiry has already been established by the Karnataka State Government to look into what went wrong and who should be held accountable.

FILINGS AND FINDINGS

Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which addresses culpable homicide, is one of the five sections under which the police complaint has been filed.

According to preliminary results, the RCB franchise, DNA Networks, and KSCA proceeded with the event in spite of the lack of approval. According to the preliminary inquiry, they failed to control crowd admission and provide enough facilities despite police warnings. In an effort to entice supporters to congregate, the RCB social media account frequently shared information about complimentary passes available at the stadium gates.

Due to Wednesday’s stampede that claimed 11 lives and injured numerous others, the Bengaluru Police have brought a suo moto case against DNA Entertainment and the state cricket organization, RCB. The state government claims that the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) organized the event, while DNA Entertainment oversaw the RCB’s IPL triumph celebrations.

CONCLUSION AND CURRENT STATUS

The state administration has been directed to file a status report on the stampede by the Karnataka High Court. The HC has requested that the government clarify the causes of the terrible event, whether it might have been avoided, and what corrective actions can be taken going forward. Under the direction of the Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed a magistrate to conduct an investigation into the event.
